VIDEO: Westwood Celebrates Veterans Day 2011

Officials and residents gathered at Veterans Park on Friday morning to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Cold and blustery winds graced the area of Veterans Park in Westwood on Friday. But the brisk air wasn't enough to keep residents and officials from honoring the town's heroes for .

Friday's annual service included thoughts and prayers from the likes American Legion Post 320 Commander Dick Paster, as well as Veterans Agent Chris McKeown and Board of Selectmen Chair Pat Ahearn, who took a moment to thank for currently serving overseas. 

 also took some time to thank those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, and dedicated a Liberty Tree to the town's veterans.

"[The Liberty Tree] was the symbol of the revolution and the American Spirit," Somers said. 

Those who attended were also graced with a performance of the National Anthem by Leanne Murray, who also sang .

Rev. Stephen Linehan of also offered a prayer for the families of veterans.
