Three Things to Do in Westwood This Weekend: July 24 - July 25

A round-up of activities for you to check out in town this weekend.

Beef Up on Your History: Westwood is a town that's chalk-full of history. The Historic District on High Street is lined with landmarks that have tested the ages. Take a look at the Colburn School before its planned move later this year. Or, for more reference, be sure to head over to the Westwood Historical Society and Fisher School, which was just named as one of the top 1,000 places to visit in the state.

Become One with Nature: With so much natural ground in Westwood, it's almost hard not to think about where to get some time outdoors. Head to one of the many hiking trails or wooded areas in town, such as Hale Reservation, Lowell Woods, or the new walking trail at Fox Meadow. For more information on Westwood's best hiking spots, check out the website of theWestwood Land Trust. You could also get some sun and relax by one of the many local ponds in the area. There is easy access to Buckmaster Pond on Pond Street, for one. And, if you're a member of Hale's Membership Beach, be sure to head on over to catch some sun and splash around in the water.

Get Some Take-Out: There are certainly a fair number of restaurants in town at which residents can find a nice sit-down meal. But what if your'e looking for something easy, or quick? Westwood has you covered. Grab a sub or a pizza pie from either the Islington Pizza and Sub Shop, Famous Pizza or Westwood Pizza. Bubbling Brook also has a variety of food in addition to it's renowned ice cream.  Or if you're in the mood for something more cultural, check out Blue Orchid for some authentic Chinese Cuisine.
