Paving Completed on High Street; Library Construction Continues

A section of High Street was paved today, with a detour set up at Gay Street. The library consruction also continued.

Today was the second day of paving and construction on High Street/Route 109, which resulted in a lane closure and detour at Gay Street.

The paving was completed at about 10:30 p.m., but needed to dry until 12 p.m. because of the intense heat. The lane was closed until then, in an attempt to let the pavement dry and not be ruined by passing cars.

The paving was to cover up a capped water main that was originally from the Colburn School.

Westwood Police Officer Maryellen Smith was at the site for traffic purposes, and said that there had been no issues throughout the morning. She said that there had been minor backups by traffic, but nothing major. The detour took vehicles from Gay Street, to Fox Hill, and back onto High Street.

Construction also continued at the Westwood Library where they have erecting steel.
