Marathon Updates, April Vacation, and Earth Day

A look at what's to come in Westwood news this week.

An exciting week for a number of who took to the 26-mile trail known as the Boston Marathon. Stay with us today for updates on how each of the runners performed in the race. 

Here's more of what's on our radar for news this week:

  • This past Saturday, New York Times best-selling author Laura Munson visited Westwood High School to give a reading of her book, "This Is Not The Story You Think It Is: A Season of Unlikely Happiness." Stay tuned for complete coverage of the event and photos of Musnon during her talk. 
  • The Westwood Police Department recently welcomed three new members to its staff. Check back for more on who's joining the force and in what form. 
  • Students enrolled in Westwood Public Schools are able to get a bit of a breather from the classroom this week, as it's currently April Vacation. We'll be featuring a roundup of activities kids and teens can do to stay occupied and entertained in the Westwood area.
  • Friday is Earth Day in Westwood, and we'll be hosting a number of stories and features with a "green" theme; this week's Patch Picks list will also feature five ideas on how to help the environment. 
  • We'll continue our coverage of sports in town, from an upcoming lacrosse game against Bellingham on Tuesday, to a baseball tournament with Latin-Academy on Wednesday.
  • With the 2011 Town Election coming next week, we'll contine our series of stories profiling a group of local incumbents running for re-election this year. 
  • Westwood's 2011 Town Meeting is just two weeks away, and we're working to put together a handful of features that will highlight the standout articles on this year's warrant.
