Head to the Viking Center for Professional Cooking

Twice a month, the Viking Center holds cooking classes and demonstrations.

Instead of staying in this week and stealing cooking tips from the Food Network, take a trip to The Viking Center and watch a real-life top chef serve up some decadent desserts.

Twice a month, the Viking Center, showroom of the high-end kitchen appliances coveted by most foodies, holds cooking classes and demonstrations.

On March 8, Bridget Collins, former pastry chef at Davio’s Restaurant in Boston and The Country Club in Brookline will demonstrate how to whip up apple crostatas, cranberry-orange and almond, oatmeal scones, foccacia with roasted garlic and herbs and goat cheese and green onion biscuits.

“People get to come in and have a different social hour than usual. They get a one-on-one with a chef which is an experience most people can't get in a restaurant,” said Lee Maida, manager of The Viking Center showroom. “It’s very casual. Some people come to eat and others get more involved, take notes and ask questions.”

The two-hour evening, which costs $50 per person, includes wine, snacks and a cooking demonstration. All guests will walk away with a recipe packet which includes the recipes from the tasty treats made that evening.
