We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

  • Where/When: First Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall; Sunday, Feb. 27, 4:30 p.m.
  • Why go: Mingle with others while you share your favorite recipes. Open to everyone.
  • Pricing: Free with your potluck dinner contribution!

  • Where/When: Westwood High School, 220 Nahatan St.; Wednesday, Feb. 23, 6 p.m. or 7:45 p.m. (depending on the outcome of games held Feb. 22)
  • Why go: Enjoy great basketball, raffles and halftime family entertainment as you cheer on the Wolverines. Support your town during this family activity!
  • Pricing: Nominal entrance fee.

  • Where/When: Westwood Public Library, Main Library, 668 High St.; Thursday, Feb. 24, 2-3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Come and hear tales of ancient Greek myths come alive through the wonder of storytelling! Recommended for school aged children.
  • Pricing:  Free, pre-registration necessary and spaces are limited. Visit the library or call 781-320-1042 for more details.

  • Where/When: Marcie and Me Studio, 615 High Street, Wednesday; Feb. 23, 11 a.m.-Noon
  • Why go: You will participate with your child, age six to 12 months, as you paint with kitchen gadgets, shape animals out of play dough, sing with puppets or dance with stars.
  • Pricing: Free with pre-registration.

  • Where/When: Jim Roche Community Ice Arena, 1275 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury; Saturdays, 2:40- 4:40 p.m.
  • Why go: Spend some quality time enjoying a family day of skating. Invite friends and families to join you for an exhilarating afternoon.
  • Pricing: Skate for $5 per person. Rent skates for $4.
