Flood Watch in Effect Through Tonight

There have been no reports of flooding in Westwood as of noontime Monday.

The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for several areas of the state Monday morning, including Norfolk County, and, subsequently, the Westwood area.

"Widespread rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected across the watch area during today into this evening," the NWS statement read. "However, the potential exists for some areas to receive 3 to 5 inches of rain."

A flood watch means there is potential for flooding based on recent forecasts, according to the NWS.

While the roads will undoubtedly be wet throughout the afternoon in Westwood, the good news is there are no reports so far of any significantly-flooded areas.

"We're watching the weather," said Director Vicki Quiram. "We're going to our hot spots, and making sure the drains and catch basins are clean. As far as we know everything's working well so far."
