Expect Lane Closures on Route 109 on Wednesday

Signs were posted today in Westwood, stating that there will be lane closures on Route 109 on Wednesday.

If you are driving on Route 109 on Wednesday, expect minor delays due to a lane closure between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

According to Westwood DPW Director Vicki Quiram, message boards were posted today at noon to let commuters know ahead of time. Signs were posted in both directions on Route 109, in an attempt to let commuters prepare for the delay ahead of time.

She explained that the lane closure is due to the construction involved in the library project, and that it ties in specifically with the main water line. Library Director Tom Viti added that the main water line was originally from the Colburn School, and will now be capped.

"We are trying to limit the closures as much as possible, but as the project moves on there will be a few more days like this with a lane closure," Quiram said.

There will be police details performing traffic control to move along traffic as smoothly as possible. Quiram said that the town is doing its best to have the closure away from peak morning and evening hours.

Quiram could not say exactly how many days this would go on for, but said it would be directly related to the speed of the overall construction.
