Adult Snowshoeing at Hale Reservation

Get out of the house and on the trails for some moonlit snowshoeing.

Your teens are holding a car wash at the high school Saturday. The grandparents volunteered to take the younger children to a movie Sunday afternoon. Your tweens take tap on Wednesday evening. It’s your time. Take it.

On Tuesday, February 15, is hosting a free Moonlight Adult Snowshoeing program. A guide will take novices and expert snowshoers along the many trails that wind through Hale, located on 80 Carby Street. These days, there’s no other way to walk through the stiff snow without snowshoes.

“There are various trails - depending on the group and the experience levels - everything from flat, simple easy trails to a little elevation and drop. There’s also an opportunity to cut new trails,” said James Reinhold, a representative from Hale.

The trails will be illuminated by the full-moon expected that night, making it an invigorating experience during the crisp evening hours.

“Sometimes we need a little encouragement to get outside. It’s easy to stay home,” said Steve Larsen, program director at Hale. “People generally aren’t going to snowshoe at night by themselves.”

The program is from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. The group will meet at Cat Rock parking lot. Participants must bring their own snowshoes and call Hale at 781-326-1770 beforehand to register.
