A Guide to the New Westwood Residential Trash and Recycling Program

Here is some information, courtesy of the Westwood Department of Public Works, about the new barrels being used and the proper way to use them.

All Westwood residents should have recently received new recycling barrels that were delivered by Waste Management.

The Department of Public Works wants to make sure everyone knows how to properly place the barrels curbside. There are two photographs with this story, one of which shows the correct way, while the other shows an example of an incorrect way. The correct way to place the barrels is to have them curbside by 7 a.m. on trash day about 3-4 feet apart.

The pick-up schedule will remain the same, and you can recycle anything with the recycling logo on it. In addition, if you have a question about whether something can be recycled, you can view the Recycling and Trash Guide on the town website.

The town is asking all residents to try out the new barrels for a month, and if they find they have more trash or recycling than the barrel can handle they should call Liz Keefe at the Department of Public Works at 781-251-2587. An additional recycling bin is free, and an additional trash cart has a rental fee of $150 per year.

Keefe says to call her with any trash or recycling questions, or you can call Waste Management at 800-972-4545.
