New England Baptist Hospital Sponsors Friends of the Westwood Library Museum Pass Program

The New England Baptist Hospital recently became the first Westwood-based business to sponsor the Friends of the Library’s Museum Pass Program.  The hospital donated $600 to the Friends, the annual cost of the group’s pass to the Museum of Science.

“Our new state-of-the-art Outpatient Care Center is located in Westwood,” said hospital spokesperson Lisa Rand.  “We want to be part of the town as both a viable business enterprise and as a good neighbor.  Sponsoring a library museum pass allows us to do that.”

Rand added that underwriting the cost of the Museum of Science pass takes that neighborliness a step further.  “We chose that particular pass because exhibits like ‘Beyond the X-Ray’ and the ‘Hall of Human Life’ tie in closely to our mission to offer patients world-class orthopedic care,” she said.

The Friends of the Westwood Library’s Museum Pass Program enables Westwood residents to visit their favorite museums at discounted rates.   The Museum of Science pass is one the library’s most popular. With it, families enjoy hundreds of interactive exhibits at one of the world’s largest science centers.

“It is the generosity and support of organizations like the New England Baptist Hospital that make the Westwood Library – and by extension, our Friends group – special.  They are truly helping us provide library excellence for the town of Westwood,” said Diane Parazin, FOL’s president.

The Friends of the Westwood Library has opened sponsorship of individual museums to local businesses and organizations.

“In this way,” said Parazin, “we can direct funds to other library necessities like book purchases, technology upgrades, author’s visits and children’s activities.  We would love to hear from civic-minded organizations, like the New England Baptist Hospital, who wish to sponsor museum passes for the Mass Audubon Society, JFK Library, Boston Children’s Museum, Museum of Fine Arts or Plimouth Plantation.”
