Director Says Library Opening Close

In an update on the Westwood Library Building Project blog, Library Director Tom Viti says the opening of the new town library is close.

“It won’t be long now,” Viti said, explaining that outside work on the site is making notable progress while inside work continues unabated.

“Trees are being planted, light pole bases and fencing are being installed, and the ground is being prepared for paving,” he said.

The most eye-catching sight, Viti says, is the progress being made on the former Colburn School as it is quickly rehabbed by Coffman Reality.

Inside the new library, the air conditioning system is being ramped up and the staff is being trained on a new phone system as well as updated building safety procedures.

Viti reminds town residents that as the countdown to opening begins, the Branch Library is open six days a week with extended hours.
