Westwood Businesses Ready for Tax Free Weekend

Similar to , Westwood-area businesses are gearing up for the annual tax-free holiday weekend in Massachusetts.

As part of the event, which runs Saturday and Sunday, shoppers throughout the state can buy products without the added 6.25 percent sales tax added on.

Here is a roundup of who is taking advantage of the tax-free weekend.

Buchanan is holding a massive sales event for the weekend, which, combined with no sales tax, should be ideal for customers who want to save big.

• Free fan with the purchase of any new woods stove, a $430 value.
• $200 off any new pellet stove.
• $50 off any gas log set.

The weekend will bring what owner and manager Michelle Buchanan calls "huge savings."

Buchanan also expects a fair amount of foot traffic, as well.

"We've had radio ads running the last week," she said. "It should be a fantastic weekend."

Normally closed on Sundays, Dolabany plans to open its doors from 12 to 5 p.m. this weekend (the store is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday) to allow for more shoppers to take advantage of no sales tax.

The store carries Pandora, among other brands, and currently is holding specials on peridot, the birthstone for the month of August, as well as diamond and bridal jewelry.

One of Westwood's own clothing shops, Sassy offers 40 percent off the majority of its merchandise on any given day. Coupled with no sales tax, that means big savings for patrons of the store, which is open Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you're looking for some unique gifts, head on over to High Street, where Decor and More is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The shop features from interior design services to inspiring handbags and jewelry to painted glassware.

While the majority of the fashion warehouse's merchandise includes women's clothing, a massive sale of 30 to 80 percent off all clearance items is currently underway, including all items, such as jewelry, that is normally taxed. Take advantage of the store's accessories this weekend tax free and with the added bonus of a great sale.
