Reminder: New Westwood Farmers Market Opens Today

The market will be held in the Westwood Senior Center parking lot from 1-6 p.m.

It's a big day for residents who enjoy shopping locally.

Beginning at 1 p.m. in the parking lot at the , a variety of vendors will set up shop for the . 

Customers will be able to shop until 6 p.m. every Tuesday between today, June 19, and Tuesday, Oct. 30, rain or shine.

The market will comprise at least five vendors, all of whom were among those offering goods at the Norwood Farmers Market in 2011:

But local shoppers aren't the only ones who will have the opportunity to enjoy the market.

Low-income seniors in Westwood who have qualified in the past for a discount on items at the Norwood Farmers Market will be able to do the like in Westwood, according to Westwood Council on Aging Director Par Larkin.

The discount, which is part of a collaboration between the Westwood COA and HESSCO Elder Services, includes $25 worth of coupons, which seniors can use to purchase goods at the market.
