New Westwood Famers Market to Open in June

The market is set to run on Tuesdays until September or October.

Westwood residents who are eager to have a farmers market closer to home are in for a treat this summer.

Town officials held discussions this week in regards to the which is set to open in just a few months at the Westwood Senior Center parking lot.

"We had a quick meeting this week to review where we were, what we needed to do, and talk abot the location and how we're thinking this can be set up," said Town Administrator Mike Jaillet. "We had a discussion about the logistics for their expected opening in June."

While he didn't have a specific date available, Jaillet said the market is set to open by mid-June, and will be held on Tuesdays from about 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. or so through September or October. He added that specifics are still being worked out. 

In terms of what will be available at the market, Jaillet said at the moment there are four vendors set to take foot, including a fish vendor, a bread vendor and up to two farm-stand vendors.

"They've had some discussions with a meat vendor and a possible lobster vendor," Jaillet added. 

The of having the farmers market in October 2011, though the details and logistics at the time were still undetermined.
