The Maine Course Serves Up Food, Fun & Music

Prime Motor Group will host The Maine Course, an evening of food, fun, music and cocktails benefiting The Agassiz Village Campership Fund, at Mercedes-Benz of Westwood on Sunday, May 6, from 6:30 - 9 p.m.   Games, raffle prizes and a silent auction will also be part of the festivities, with entertainment provided by DJ Paul Dailey.

Agassiz Village, nestled on 400 acres of scenic woodlands in Poland, Maine, is devoted to ensuring that children ages 8-17 from racially, economically and socially diverse backgrounds, have the opportunity to attend overnight camp in a safe and nurturing setting.  100% of all camp tuitions are subsidized through private contributions and fundraising efforts.

Tickets, priced at $75 per person, are available by calling 781-860-0200 or by visiting www.agassizvillage.org.  (Space is limited and tickets will be sold in advance only. Tickets will not be available at the door.)  Mercedes-Benz of Westwood is located at 425 Providence Highway on Route 1 in Westwood.

For The Maine Course, all the vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz showroom will be cleared to be replaced by an exceptional gathering of chefs offering an array of tempting delicacies from such restaurants as Anna's Taqueria, Boston Speed Dog, Cakes to Remember, Douzo Modern Japanese Restaurant & Lounge, il Casale, Island Creek Oyster Bar, the Kickass Cupcake Truck, L'Andana, Masona Grill, Rebecca's Cafe, Sky Restaurant Norwood, Strega Waterfront. Sweet Basil and Top Dog of Rockport.  In addition, Chocolate Therapy will offer a chocolate / wine sampling.

Beer, wine and beverages will be provided for guests through the generosity of Blue Hills Brewery, Brick & Mortar, Kappy's Fine Wines & Spirits and Whole Foods Market.

David Rosenberg, President of Prime Motor Group and an Overseer for Agassiz Village  commented, "Agassiz has been doing remarkable work for decades.  Every summer, they encourage a great, new group of kids to live to their full potential by developing their own unique interests and skills.  In a very positive setting, they get to participate in a broad range of experiences they might not otherwise have a chance to enjoy."

Agassiz Village Executive Director Clifford Simmonds added, "Having the opportunity to make a difference in a child's life is a gift.  Making a difference in hundreds of children's lives is a treasure. We are very grateful that David Rosenberg and Prime Motor Group have generously offered to help us reach that goal by hosting this brand new event in their beautiful Mercedes-Benz showroom."

Laura Hernandez, Executive Assistant in the President's office at Prime Motor Group, is coordinating logistics for the fundraiser. "We'll be incorporating a camp theme for the night," she explained.  "As people arrive, they'll see giant projections of Agassiz Village to set the mood and let everyone connect with the organization they're supporting.  Then we thought it would be fun to have those giant wooden arrows on posts -- just like we all remember from 'M.A.S.H.' -- directing guests to the various restaurant stations, the beverage bars, the photo booth, the games, the silent auction items and so on.  It's all designed to evoke warm memories of summer camp."

"Moving so many luxury vehicles and transforming a car showroom into a party venue for 200 guests practically overnight is ambitious," she said, "but our team is prepared.  And when people arrive, it will look like it all happened effortlessly, which is, of course, our goal.  That, and for everyone to have a wonderful time supporting a very worthy cause."

Agassiz Village -- The Mission

Agassiz Village was founded in 1935 by prominent Boston attorney Harry E. Burroughs who saw an opportunity to foster children from the inner city of Boston by introducing them to the beauty of the outdoors in a summer camp environment.  Today, Agassiz Village serves hundreds of boys and girls from all over New England.

Located adjacent to the shores of pristine Thompson Lake, the picturesque village includes 55 camp buildings, 2 basketball courts, hiking trails, boating and fishing areas plus a Main Dining Hall that ranks as one of the largest log cabins in the world.

In helping children to develop skills and values regardless of their individual challenges, Agassiz Village has a mission to: "emphasize community, encourage enduring friendships and reinforce positive values such as dignity, respect, and tolerance. It is our hope that all of our children will develop the tools to create and recognize opportunity throughout their lives, understand the broad range of possibilities open to them, appreciate the value of good friends, have the courage to dream big, and the discipline to make those dreams come true."
