Pet of the Week: Benjamin

Lovable tuxedo cat is available for adoption through the Neponset Valley Humane Society.

Submitted by Judy Ambrose, Neponset Valley Humane Society

Benjamin was begging at a home to be allowed indoors. The homeowners didn't know where he came from but no one in the neighborhood claimed this very lovable tuxedo cat.

Benjamin is a friendly, happy and confident cat. He enjoys catnip toys, cuddling and being held like a baby. He is quite content sitting safely indoors in his cat tree watching the world go by outside. He would probably do OK with a welcoming kitty companion but he mainly loves people and would be quite happy as the only pet in your home.  Our vet estimated Benjamin is about 1-2 years old. He is a big, mellow, gentle and handsome boy who would love a forever family to call his own.

Other news and information from the Neponset Valley Humane Society:

  • Home sweet home: We are happy to report that last week's Pet of the Week, Liza, was lucky enough to have found a new family thanks to her appearance.
  • Help control the pet population: There is a severe cat overpopulation problem in our local communities. You can be part of the solution by neutering your own cat. If you need assistance getting your cat neutered, contact the Humane Society.
  • More to adopt: NVHS volunteers are currently caring for many friendly and lovable cats plus we have a cat who would love to manage your barn or shop. Cats who are not well socialized with humans need a safe place to live and can be the perfect deterrent to rodents in your shop or barn. We also have a very cute and friendly mini lop house rabbit in need of a new home and family to love. Visit neponsethumane.org to see all the pets waiting for forever families to love and call their own.
  • Special Seniors Program: Senior cats make great companions for senior citizens. If you are a senior and considering adopting a senior cat, NVHS has a special program for you. NVHS offers after-adoption support for all senior adopters. The Humane Society currently has a very lovable senior cat eager to be your new feline companion.
  • Foster homes needed: NVHS is an all volunteer, all foster care organization. Foster homes save the lives of stray and abandoned pets.  Contact the Humane Society for more information about this or any other volunteer opportunities.
  • NVHS 18th Annual Walk for Animals: Please join NVHS volunteers for the 18th Annual Walk for Animals on Sunday, May 20 at Borderland State Park.
