'Overboard' to Perform in Summer Concert Series Tomorrow

The all-male a cappella group will perform contemporary hits and classics in a variety of vocal renditions.

Last Monday, residents of Westwood were treated to the sweat swinging sounds of the Westwood Community Swing Band.

The show was the first performance of the Westwood Summer Concert Series held all through July at the Westwood Senior Center gazebo.

For those who may have missed the first show, fear not, as tomorrow another talented group will perform.

Overboard, a Boston-based male a cappella group, will be performing a wide variety of songs that span a number of musical genres. The band is well-known for its vocal renditions of popular songs.

"Although Overboard's repertoire consists primarily of contemporary pop/rock songs, including covers from such artists as Rascall Flatts, Stevie Wonder and The Beatles, the group remains true to it's a cappella roots and continues to perform classic selections such as 'Blue Moon,' 'In The Still of the Night,' and 'Stand By Me,'" according to the group's website.

The band is not new to Westwood, either, having played for the first time during last year's Summer Concert Series.

If you're interested in hearing both contemporary melodies mixed with some classic songs, be sure to head over to the Senior Center for Overboard's performance on Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Westwood Summer Concert series is organized by the Young Women's Club, and is free to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dinner and pull up a lawn chair. Westwood Pizza will also provide whole pizzas and pizza by the slice for purchase.
