Southern Rail Bluegrass Band to Perform at First Parish of Westwood

On Sunday, May 1st, First Parish of Westwood proudly presents the Southern Rail Bluegrass Band, which will provide special music at the 10AM worship service and then perform in concert at 3PM.  The public is welcome at both events.  Tickets for the concert, which is sponsored by the Roy & Eleanor London Memorial Music Fund, are $12 ($10/seniors and children; $30/family pack) and are available at the door.

On the Touring Roster for the New England Foundation for the Arts, Southern Rail's bluegrass music is high-energy exuberant fun, with riveting harmonies, irreverent humor, and sparkling banjo and mandolin solo work. This talented quartet has performed for over 30 years, and has released over 10 recordings.  Their reputation for strong original material, heart-stopping harmonies, and infectious good humor has spread to both coasts. The group's performances range from Folk Festivals to Bluegrass Festivals, from Coffeehouses and Concert Halls to Church services, from Art Institutes to Educational Television.

All residents of Westwood and surrounding communities are welcome to attend all First Parish events.  Located at the intersection of Nahatan and Clapboardtree streets, First Parish is handicapped accessible.  Regular worship services are held in the historic Meetinghouse at 10AM every Sunday, with church school classes in the Parish Hall during the worship hour.  For additional information, contact the church office at 781-326-5344 or parish1st@firstparishwestwood.org.
