Westwood Residents Weigh in on bin Laden's Death

Westwood Patch hits the town for reactions to Sunday night's announcement from President Barack Obama.

There were mixed emotions in the air around Westwood today regarding the announcement of .

Westwood Patch spoke to residents and hit the streets of throughout town to find out how people felt about the news. Reactions ranged from sentimental to energetic, while others chose not to comment. 

Paul Doyle, a retired DEA agent living in Westwood, said the news of bin Laden's death hit close to home, and held personal meaning for him.

"The news that U.S. Forces caught up with Osama bin Laden has special meaning for me," said Doyle, whose son-in-law, Patrick Guinee, a Marine Fighter Pilot, was deployed to Afghanistan immediately after the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

"While he was there, his first child was born," Doyle said. "I was at Ground Zero, with a (New York Police Department) search and rescue team, and witnessed the devastation and tragic loss of life. I have a number of friends currently in Special Operations - U.S. Special Agents, Army Special Forces, Forced Reconnaissance Marines, and Navy Seals. They are the best of the best, and I'm proud of them all."
