VIDEO: Fun-Filled Variety at Bird Street Summer Day Getaway
The Dorchester-based group offers a wide variety of programs to children at Hale each summer.
The following is part of a weekly series running this summer that profiles the various camps and programs offered at during the summer months.
Organized by the Bird Street Community Center, which serves children from Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan and Hyde Park, the Bird Street Summer Day Getaway is one of the dozens of programs to call the Westwood reservation home each summer.
Running six weeks from July 5 through Aug. 26, the camp sees an average of 95 children in attendance each day, and offers a variety of fun-filled programs from step instruction to music classes to art lessons.
