Holly Joe Interiors Takes Part in Holiday Showcase

Participation To Benefit Area Children’s Organizations

Interior Decorator Holly Joe’s maxim of offering a modern twist on traditional design is certainly coming into play this holiday season.

That’s because Joe is taking part in Van Millwork’s “Mantels & Mistletoe” event, a holiday showcase that presents a collection of mantels decked out in their festive best.  Joe will transform a classic wood-paneled library mantel into a fusion of the old and new by using modern-day metals.

“I’m mixing it up two-fold,” she said of her design.  “I’m playing up the traditional lines and décor of the room and adding a contemporary flourish.  Then I’m taking that a step further by putting together two different metals:  silver and gold.”

Joe will use sprigs of metalized evergreen dusted with glitter and coupled with mercury glass candleholders to achieve her vision.

“I’m reimagining  the classic dark library with soothing colors, cozy nubby textures and a hint of sparkling glamor,” she said.

That classic library is just one of nine individually-themed suites representing distinctive architectural periods and styles found in Van Millwork’s  4,000 square foot showroom.  A different area designer will decorate each room for the holiday season.  Visitors can walk through the displays and  discover holiday decorating ideas and gather festive inspiration for their own homes.

The “Mantels & Mistletoe” design exhibition benefits Horizons for Homeless Children, Cradles to Crayons and The Italian Home for Children. Attendees are asked to consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy or article of clothing for infants through age 14.  Monetary donations are also welcome.  Van Millwork will be making a contribution to each organization.

The event runs now through December 20, 2013 every Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Van Millwork Needham Showroom at 65 Crawford Street.
