Annual Fundraiser to Benefit Mathew Bentley Harris Memorial Fund

On Saturday, November 9, 2013 the Annual Fundraiser for the Mathew Bentley Harris Memorial Fund will be held at St. Julia’s Church Parish Hall, 374 Boston Post Road in Weston. This memorial fund was established to invest in the Help Educate After Loss (HEAL) program at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, providing support to families coping with a pregnancy loss, stillbirth or loss of a baby. Money raised from the event will help underwrite the annual Babies Remembered memorial held for families of the HEAL program.

In 2003, the Harris family experienced the unexpected loss of their son, Mathew, at just one month old. Determined to give Mathew a voice, the Harris family created a fund in his memory that would provide assistance to other families experiencing a loss. The Babies Remembered Memorial held each year at Newton-Wellesley Hospital allows the opportunity for parents, siblings and grandparents to come together to remember and honor the lives of the children that have gone too soon. "After losing Mathew I was left with an overwhelming sense of compassion and a need to reach out and help other families,” claims Mathew’s mother, Amy Harris. “That is a true gift Mathew gave me."

All are welcome to attend the fundraiser which will feature music, wine/beer and hors d’oeuvres, as well as a raffle and Silent Auction. The fundraiser will run from 7:00-10:00 pm. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $25. Donations to support the fund may be made online at: www.nwh.org/giveonline. Please indicate your designation as the Mathew Bentley Harris Memorial Fund.
