The Westwood High School girls 4x800 indoor track team competed at the New Balance Nationals in New York last Friday, March 9, finishing second in their heat. The girls ran a school record, breaking one set in 1998, with a time of 9:39.15, head coach Jennifer Teahan told Westwood Patch in an email. The team consisted of senior Nora Smith, juniors Andrea Simi and Sam Kitchen and sophomore Celia Condrick. A video of the race can be viewed on YouTube; a copy of the video is included in this post.

Westwood's girls varsity hockey team continued a strong run in the MIAA First Round Friday night with a 8-1 victory over Scituate, followed by a 3-2 victory in the Quarterfinals on Sunday. The Westwood High School boys’ and girls’ hockey teams are set to compete in this year's MIAA State Tournament, and recently found out where they will be seeded, as well as who their first round of opponents will be. The girls team earned the sixth seed in the MIAA Div. 2 State Tournament after finishing the regular season with a record of 14-5-1, according to MIAA Tournament brackets released this past weekend. The girls will take on Scituate on Friday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Canton.  The boys team, meanwhile, earned the 17th seed in the MIAA South Division 3 Tournament after finishing the …

Westwood ran into a very strong Belmont team on Monday, which was coming off a great game knocking off top ranked Woburn in the tough Middlesex League.
