A recent study at Framingham State University looked at the cost of living in the nine towns that make up the MetroWest.
Some people move to the MetroWest area to have easy access to Boston, others move to the local area to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city. Whatever your reason is for living in the MetroWest area is, you're paying a premium to live here according to one study. The Worcester Business Journal reports that researchers at Framingham State University's MetroWest Economic Research Center (MERC) found the cost of living in MetroWest to be more than 43 percent higher than the national average and three percent higher than the cost of living in Boston. MERC's study focused on the nine towns of Ashland, Framingham, Holliston Hopkinton, Natick, Sherborn, Sudbury and Wayland and found that housing costs drive the cost of living in the area. "As …

Whether it is a vehicle full of raw power or finesse, everyone's dream car is unique.
Whether it started with the nearly imperceptible shape and accompanying wail of a passing Italian exotic, hours spent staring down the lines of a German poster car, or your first time slogging through mud that no machine should be able to transverse — all the cars of our dreams have their origins. My first dream car — and most car people will have at least a few in their life time — began to take form upon hearing my first burbley V8. It was a passing sound that is attached to no vehicle in my memory, but it stuck with me. It wasn’t until I saw the lines of a 1966 Pontiac Tempest GTO that the form took shape. When I heard that boisterous engine while staring at a GTO, I knew that car had worked itself into my mind forever. Since that time…

Leaping over obstacles and scaling walls, Patch Editor Charlene Arsenault took parkour lessons at New England Sports Academy recently.
Every so often, we at Patch like to take a close look at the unique things going on in local businesses, and that's what led us to take parkour lessons at New England Sports Academy in Westwood. "Parkour is a French art form where we use all these different vaults strides, hand movements to get up and over obstacles," Dylan Polin, a parkour instructor at New England Sports Academy said. The lesson had Patch Editor Charlene Arsenault jumping over obstacles that imitated the urban environment parkour enthusiasts use as their playground.

From fast to trail rated we have a list of different kinds of SUVs for sale in the area.
It used to be you drove an SUV because you were a woodsman who needed to drive through trees, up mountains and across deserts while keeping your stuff dry (otherwise you would naturally drive a truck). Skip ahead a few decades and what were once creaky automobiles designed for rugged utility have been transformed into a host of different permutations. Some SUVs are now convertibles, while others offer impressive efficiency and a few are down right sporty. We have gathered a list of five very different SUVs for sale in the area below. Information on each car has been gathered below or can be reviewed in the photos along with this article. Let's start with the vehicle on this list that may offer the least utility of the bunch. Being a Mini …

This oven in Grafton has plenty of good toasts left in him. In honor of Earth Day, this family really dreads tossing this perfectly healthy toaster in the trash. While he may not be as handsome as the models you see in the magazines, he's a rugged, hardy worker who has kept himself clean and still has all his knobs. Please be serious if you call about this toaster oven. He's waited at the door a number of times only to be stood up. Did you come across a rug on the highway? Give it up. That rug's not yours, and there is someone who has been desperately seeking it since January…

Westwood has seen more home sales in 2013 while low inventory continues to hamper home sales across the commonwealth.
Bucking the trend across the commonwealth, Westwood's single-family home sales continue to outpace 2012's numbers, according to the Warren Group, which publishes Banker & Tradesman. While the commonwealth and Norfolk County saw “shrinking inventory," which is “depressing sales volume," single-family home sales in Westwood increased from 9 in March 2012 to 11 in March 2013. So far this year, Westwood has seen 25 homes sold – compared to 20 in 2012, according to The Warren Group. "Low inventory is plaguing housing markets all over the country, and Massachusetts is no exception," said David Harris, editorial director at The Warren Group. "With mortgage rates low and prices competitive, we're hopeful more sellers will emerge and the trend in …
