WHS Cheer Brings Home 1st Place!!!

Since August the WHS varsity cheerleaders have spent their week nights preparing them selves for a performance of a lifetime and this Sunday the hard work absolutely paid off. The Wolverines traveled to Algoquin Regional High School to compete for the first time this season and left with a "W". The road to this day was definitely not an easy one; with two concussions, acouple sore knees and some bumps and bruises these girls have pushed themselves to the limit and like everything else in life the things we want most never come without a price. After a shaky warm up the girls stood on the side of the mat waiting for their name to be called and all that could be seen was the look of determination to go out and do the best they could. It wasn't a flawless routine but the whole gym was in amazement watching this group of 14 kids rock the floor like they owned it. "It's never been about winning or losing to me. What matters most to me is making sure my kids are giving everything they have when they take the floor. They have improved so much and I couldn't be more proud of my girls. A first place trophy was just the icing on the cake." - Coach Brown. The Wolverines were able to compete against another Tri-Valley School which will help us prepare for our League Competition this Saturday at Ashland High School. "The program has never received a first place title and for the second year coaching this team I am still in awe by how hard these athletes are willing to work". The girls will spend the rest of the week re-working our routine and making it even harder! With a win under our belt the confidence can be felt through the whole team. We couldn't of come this far with each other and without our wonderful fans, families and friends. Please come support the girls in their efforts to make it to Regionals!!! WE ARE WESTWOOD!!!!
