On Friday night last week, we packed up the kids with pajamas, sleeping bags, pillows, stuffed animals and snacks, then headed to the Mendon drive-in.
It takes about 50 minutes to get there from Westwood, we arrived before 8 p.m. The kids were excited to get popcorn and slush, in addition to our other snacks. We laid out a blanket and chairs to enjoy our snacks and watch some kids play ball before the movie. There was a family feel about it, I was thinking I might even want to go camping some day.
When the movie, "Brave", started; Lizzy, Frankie and I got into the back of the SUV to get comfy. It took us a while, it felt like we were playing musical sleeping bags. Frankie brought a talking Mater, and we kept rolling on it causing him to "talk", hopefully we didn't bother our neighbors too much. Once we got settled, it was very enjoyable to watch the movie and relax!
A few things to keep in mind that we forgot; first, bring bug spray! It was a bit better in the car, but bug spray would have helped. We also would bring a battery powered radio to use outside the car next time.
It was a great experience and we are excited to go back soon. We would highly recommend it!
