Westwood's Alexandra Kelly Named as Jimmy Fund 'Patient Partner'

The program runs from July 11-Aug. 11, when customers of Taco Bell, KFC and The Paper Store can donate anywhere from $1-5.

A local 7-year-old from Westwood has been named a Jimmy Fund Clinic Patient Partner for the Jimmy Fund’s “Strike Out Cancer” program.

Between July 11 and Aug. 1, customers of Taco Bell and KFC, as well as patrons of The Paper Store, can donate $1, $3, or $5 to the "Strike Out Cancer" program. Those who donate will also have their names displayed on baseball pin-ups.

Kelly was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia on April 6, 2010, and during the past year, has finished treatment that has allowed her to enjoy activities such as soccer, painting, dancing and coloring. And treatment has not held the Deerfield Elementary first-grader from high aspirations either, as she aims to be an author when she grows up.

Last year, Kelly was honored at Fenway Park as part of a program associated with the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge; she was previously named a Pedal Partner of the 32nd annual bike race in 2011. Likewise, Kelly has been involved with Westwood's annual PMC Kids' Ride.
