A number of roads were blocked off in Westwood on Sunday due to Hurricane Irene, which also caused power outages and traffic light outages, as well as broken trees and downed wires.

While it was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it reached Westwood, Hurricane Irene sure left its mark on the map Sunday.

Heavy rainfall and high-intensity winds brought down dozens of trees and tree limbs, which also resulted downed wires and power outages.

The storm was a tough one, but Westwood officials didn't see the need or demand to justify opening the emergency shelter at Westwood High School.

Starting Monday, crews will assess damages in town and continue cleanup efforts.
