Police: Driver Fled Allen Express with Gas Pump Hose
Westwood Police are currently looking for the driver, who stole $62 worth of gasoline from the Westwood gas station last week.
While filling up at the Allen Express Gas Station on Washington Street in Islington last week, the driver of a Chevy Tahoe drove off with the gas pump hose still attached to the vehicle's gas tank, police said Monday.
The incident, which is being investigated by the Westwood Police Department, occurred on Monday, Jan. 30 at around 6:20 p.m.
It was then that the Tahoe pulled into the station and a clerk at Allen Express placed the nozzle of the gas pump hose into the gas tank of the truck, utilizing the pump's auto-fill before going into the building to complete some paper work, Westwood Police Detective Paul Toland said Monday.
After the nozzle stopped pumping, the driver of the truck drove off on Washington Street, stealing about $62 worth of gasoline and yanking the nozzle and hose off the gas pump, dragging it along the road.
There was no spill of gasoline at the station, nor were any injuries reported.
Police searched the area but were unable to find the driver, and are investigating the incident.
