One of the MBTA's CNG-fueled buses was stuck for some time this afternoon around 3 p.m., under the East Street bridge in Islington. A portion of the bus' roof was sheared off as seen in the photos.

Both the little league field and Roche Bros were evacuated following the incident.

Fire officials from Norwood, Walpole and the MBTA were on scene to assist the Westwood Fire Department.

East Street reopened about five hours later.

Patch reader Parker Harrington shared this video from the scene.

Westwood Patch will bring you more information as it becomes available.

Someday when there is a car-hit-pedestrian fatality, the rest of the state will see the pictures of the "sidewalk" under the narrow bridge underpass, shake their heads in disbelief, and ask the MBTA and Westwood - how could you let this go unaddressed? Why didn't you act to address such an obviously dangerous situation? Why isn't there a safe passageway for pedestrians?
