Graduates Enjoy a Carnival at All Night Grad Party
Graduates took to the decorated halls of Westwood High School Sunday for the All Night Graduation Party, which lasted until 5 a.m.
While Westwood's All Night Graduation Party lasted for about 10 hours, it has taken months of planning for it to even exist.
The All Night Graduation Party, run by Westwood Community in Action, took on a carnival theme this year, and featured everything from tea cup rides to casino poker. A psychic was also on hand, one who may or may not have been able to tell Sunday's graduates what the future holds for them.
Event co-chair Jane Norris said that planning for the event began in September, with prop building beginning in February. The party serves a fun way for students to celebrate with each other one last time before they go separate ways, without being prone to dangers of drinking and driving.
"The whole point is to keep these kids safe," said Norris.
Activities throughout the night were of wide range and included a mechanical bull, a late night Chinese buffet, an inflatable boxing ring, ski ball, and a hypnotist, among others. There was also a DJ supplying beats and hosting a dance party.
Norris and co-chair Kati Ryan worked with parents and volunteers to create the most fun atmosphere possible. After months of planning and preparing, it has come and gone. But Norris said that it is all worth it in the end.
"It will be a fun, emotional night," Norris said prior to the party on Sunday. "It's emotional because they know it's the end, but it's a good way for everyone to get together and celebrate."
