It'll be anything but a typical Valentine's Day for Dan Kazachkov and his wife Shauna.  

The couple, who were married at the gazebo by the Westwood Senior Center on Nov. 11, will not be going out for a romantic evening due to the fact that Shauna is currently serving in South Carolina for the U.S. Navy. 

But that's not stopping the Norwood couple from celebrating the best way they can - over Skype, a tool Kazachkov said he was reluctant to use at first and has since come to love it. 

"I didn't even want to," said Kazachkov, who owns the Dental Arts of Westwood on High Street. "I downloaded it just to talk to my cousin on my iPhone, and it's been amazing because it's fairly high resolution."

The online video tool is ideal in Kazachkov's situation with Shauna out of the state due to her service. 

And they've had the chance to get accustomed to it as well - they began using Skype last summer and average up to 14 hours a day to stay in close contact, Kazachkov said. 

"She doesn't have access to anything we normally have," he said. "It's really the only form of communication. She's just in an odd position right now."

As for Valentine's Day, the couple does plan to celebrate with a video dinner of sorts. 

"She's going to eat the meal packs that they eat and I'm going to have something delicious," Kazachkov said, chuckling. "I haven't decided, but it's going to be much better than what she's having."

Fortunately, Shauna's service allows her a two-day leave the weekend after Valentine's Day, when the two will take advantage of the break to enjoy a romantic dinner at the restaurant Blu in Boston.

"She's only here for two days max," Kazachkov said. "We have Saturday night to Sunday morning. There's no other way around it. [But] there's no other her. She's worth it. She's just a really nice girl, from the Midwest, very kind hearted, and an awesome dentist, so that's a huge plus for me."
