Chief Chase Officially Retired; Roy Serving as Interim

The town will be conducting a nationwide search for a new full-time police chief.

With Police Chief William G. Chase officially retired as of Feb. 4, Jeffrey Roy has stepped in as interim police chief for the town.

Chase, who was chief for 10 years in Westwood, is now the chief of police at Fisher College in Boston.

The town will be undergoing a nationwide search, the Globe reported when Chase announced his retirement.

Roy, the former police chief in Orleans, was appointed to serve as interim chief over the department, which consists of 28 sworn officers and 10 civilian employees.

28 sworn officers and not one of them is capable of leading the department during the process? Sounds like Chief Roy is a $2,000 a week babysitter.
