Black Friday Shopping Tips: Westwood Business Hours, Sales

As locals gear up for some big shopping deals, a host of Westwood businesses are anticipating a successful day.

With Thanksgiving behind us, the attention now turns to holiday shopping on one of the biggest shopping days of the year: Black Friday.

While Westwood may not exactly be the shopping hub of the state, local establishments are still anticipating a successful day. Here's a roundup of some local deals and business hours today.

Buchanan Fireplace

Buchanan Fireplace will be keeping their standard hours for Black Friday, but will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday for the first ever "Small Business Day".

Owner Michelle Buchanan said the business is a small establishment and can't offer crazy specials for Black Friday, but the store is offering a free accessory item with any gas, wood or pellet appliance up to $430.

There are also local coupons out for customers to save up to $150 on a purchase of $1,000 or more. Or, Buchanan said, customers will save 15 percent off products up to $150.

"Some people come in looking for crazy specials like Wal Mart," said Buchanan. "We just can't offer huge discounts like that, but we still expect a pretty good turnout - especially with it being chilly (this week)."

Buchanan said that the store will be carrying screens, tools and other accessories for fireplaces.

Frugal Fannies

Frugal Fannies will hold special hours all weekend for shoppers, and will be open from 7 a.m. 9 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. For Black Friday, the store is offering $20 off any sale over $100, along with a $25 gift card.

Customers can also take advantage of the store's sale on coats by saving an additional 20 to 30 percent off for leather. Swimwear will also be 20 to 40 percent off as part of the store's "Cruise 2011" sale. Shoes and boots will also be 20 to 50 percent off.

Dolabany Jewelers

Sandy Burns of Dolabany Jewelers said the store will be having a sale on everything except Pandora products for Black Friday, and noted that Calvin Klein and Cape Cod products will be 50 percent off.

Burns said that if the day proves to be exceptionally busy, the store will stay later than the scheduled hours. However, she noted that they don't expect to be quite as busy as a mall area.

"We had a good turnout last year and expect a pretty good one this year," said Burns. "A free standing store is not the same as the mall, though."

Dolabany Jewelers will be open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Chill

Wendy Hill, one of the owners of Chill in Westwood, said that she expects a great turnout and urges residents to shop local Friday and throughout the weekend.

While there won't be a sale on Black Friday, Hill said Saturday's Small Business Day is another story. A flyer was sent out to people on the store's email list which offers 20 percent off one item for Saturday with the print out.

Hill said the flyer was sent to about 300 people, and she expects many to take advantage.

"We sure hope to have a good turnout," said Hill. "This discount is for our loyal customers."

Chill, a store that specializes in clothing, jewelery and other accessories, will not be open on Sunday or Monday, but will be open the Sunday and Monday of Christmas week.

The store will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

K & G Fashion Superstore

In a store-wide sale, customers can buy one suit and get two for free during Black Friday.

Men can choose from a mix of styles that go for $159.99 each, or $179.99 for Big and Tall. Women can choose from pant and skirt suits that are priced at $139.99. There will also be 2 for $25 shirt deals.

K & G Fashion Superstore will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday.
