5 Things to do in the Westwood Area This Weekend
A roundup of events and activities in and around town.
It's Thursday, and you say you've got no plans this weekend?
No problem, we're here to help. Below is a roundup of what's happening in and around town this weekend, Friday through Sunday.
Where/When: Westwood Knowledge Beginnings, Westwood; Friday, Aug. 24: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Why Go: Come check out activities and give your family a sneak peek of how everything the local service has to offer. Whether your child has first words or first grade on the horizon, the school has designed every classroom, every activity, and every lesson for learning. It’s how the school's teachers help children discover the wonders of the world and prepare for school success.
Where/When: Paradise Cafe, Dedham; Friday, Aug. 24: 8 p.m.
Why Go: What started as a pre-teen jamming on a cardboard guitar cut-out & lipsyncing to The Kinks and Def Leppard for family and friends has evolved to become some of the most heart-felt and honest songwriting/performing in recent decades. Damian Israel Shiner grew from solo to shinerjones, and now fronts a flexible project involving a rotating crew of "displayers".
Where/When: Discover Music and Art, Saturday, Aug. 25: 11 a.m.
Why Go: This Saturday, children will have the chance to learn simple animal poses, games, stories, music and breathing exercises that help to strengthen coordination and build body awareness. The class incorporates the use of fun props and the repetition of songs, games, and playful yoga poses.
Where/When: 89 Pleasant St, Natick; Sunday, Aug. 26: 11 a.m.
Why Go: This August Belkin Family Lookout Farm is hosting the 2nd Annual Family Food Fest with NECN’s TV Diner. Join New England’s #1 food and dining program for an unforgettable day.
