The food pantry, located behind the Westwood Council on Aging building, helps feed many anonymous families in the Westwood community. Local churches run food drives weekly and there are three annual drives held in town to keep the pantry full—especially around the holidays. The Boy Scouts run a drive in November (before Thanksgiving). The Girl Scouts and the post office run ones in the spring. Volunteers at the food pantry generally sort the food donations.

This past Wednesday at dismisal time for the Thurston Middle School, a mother was picking up her daughter and friends (about 4 girls total). The mother had parked just outside of the Food Pantry in the parking lot between the baseball field and the tot lot in a brown/tan SUV. As the girls were getting into the car, one of them noticed the Food Pantry garage door was open and starting taking bottled water from the Pantry for her and her friends. The other girls were laughing as they accepted the bottles. My wife was observing this and started to walk towards the SUV to tell them to return the water... the girl and her mother noticed my wife watching them and walking towards them, and the girl yelled at her mother to "go" to which the mother sped off through the tot lot and senior center parking towards Nahatan St. Can you believe it?!

Disgusting behavior... the girls and their mother should be ashamed. There was no one present in the Food Pantry, so my wife brought this to the attention of the Senior Center employees and we've also notified the town with a description of the car.
