The Basement is an after-school program for middle school students in Westwood, facilitated and supervised by the Recreation Department at the Islington Community Center.  Mentors will sign up for specific day and time slots, any day(s) Monday through Thursday from 3:30-5:00 p.m., in either the fall, winter or spring. Volunteers can attend as few or as many days per week as they feel they are able to commit to, and for however many weeks they are available. While at this program Mentors are responsible for providing general homework help from 3:30-4:00 or 4:30 p.m., as well as playing games and interacting with the middle school students between the end of the homework period and 5:00 p.m. The program is available to Westwood High School sophomores, juniors and seniors only.
