Disclosure of Westwood Property Values Now Available

Editor's Note: The following was submitted to Westwood Patch by Westwood Town Assessor Debbie Robbins.

The Westwood Board of Assessors announced last week that disclosure of the town's new values is currently available.

Over the past year, Town Assessor Debbie Robbins and consultants from Vision Appraisal Technologies have verified all property sales from 2010 and collected income and expense information from Commercial and Industrial properties. This information was carefully analyzed and formulated into property values.

Valuation books will be available in the Westwood Public Library's main branch and Westwood Town Hall from Nov. 7 to Nov. 14 during normal business hours.

Anyone may check any value in town by using these books, which will be arranged alphabetically by address. Officials will also have the values posted on the town’s web site.  Taxpayers should compare the assessments of similar properties in their neighborhood to their own property’s assessment.

Any taxpayer who is concerned about the accuracy of the valuation placed on his or her property may call the Assessor’s office at 781-326-1904 during this one-week disclosure period or visit office during normal business hours, which are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

When the disclosure process is complete, officials will request final certification of the town's assessments from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Tax bills should be issued by Dec. 31.
