Dedham-Westwood Water District Revamps Water Conservation Rebate Program
The Dedham-Westwood Water District has expanded its Water Conservation Rebate program for high efficiency toilets to include commercial customers.
Two rebates per commercial water account will be permitted.
High-efficiency toilets use 1.28 gallons per flush or less. Dual-flush model toilets are also considered "High Efficiency". Many models are as inexpensive as the standard toilet (1.6 gallons per flush).
Look for the EPA’s WaterSense Label All WaterSense toilets are eligible for the $75 rebate.
For more details or assistance with WaterSense labeled toilets, check out the EPA’s WaterSense web site www.epa.gov/watersense.
Residential Water Customers can purchase a qualifying water efficient model and receive a $100 rebate. All washing machine models with a Water Factor of 4.0 or less are eligible for the rebate. The Water Factor is determined on the amount of water used per cubic foot of wash tub capacity. To determine if a particular washing machine qualifies, look up its Water Factor using the make and model number on the Energy Star website: www.energystar.gov or ask your appliance retailer for the information.
Rebate applications are available online at www.dwwd.org. and at our office at 50 Elm St. in Dedham. To get your rebate check, mail in an application form along with a copy of your store receipt. We may schedule a service call at your home to verify the washing machine qualifies.
Rainbarrels can be purchased by Water District customers through our website, at a deeply discounted price. Several natural color options are available. A local company, The Great American Rain Barrel Company in Hyde Park, reworks barrels from their olive import business into the water conserving garden staple.
